Particle Board FAQ Section
What are the advantages of particle board over solid wood?
Particle board offers several advantages over solid wood including lower cost, more uniform density, greater dimensional stability (less prone to warping), and better utilization of wood resources. It also provides a smoother surface for laminates and veneers compared to natural wood which may have grain variations.
How should I store particle board to prevent damage?
Particle board should be stored in a dry, level area protected from weather elements. Keep boards flat to prevent warping and stack them on a flat surface with adequate support to prevent bending. Maintain good ventilation in the storage area and avoid direct contact with concrete floors which may transfer moisture. For long-term storage, consider covering stacks with breathable protective material.
Can particle board be used in high-moisture areas?
Standard particle board is not recommended for high-moisture environments. However, we offer special moisture-resistant particle board that incorporates water-repellent additives in both the wood particles and resin binder. For bathrooms or kitchens, these moisture-resistant versions should be properly sealed at all edges and surfaces. Even moisture-resistant particle board shouldn't be used in continuously wet conditions or outdoor applications without proper protection.
Additional Product Options
